sunday sermon

Be content with what you have;
rejoice in the way things are.
When you realize there is nothing lacking,
the whole world belongs to you.

felix

Felix is a fish - a glorious crimson half-moon betta. He came into our lives on January 8th and has been a joy. He is full of personality, swimming around whenever he sees us, straight on staring at us when we put our faces near the glass. He loves to hang out near the heater and his greatest joy - other than being fed - is when I do a 50% water change every week. He spends his days swimming around, staring down the cats, and blowing bubble nests. We're so happy he's part of our family.

swimming upstream

Yesterday, Miss J and I took Grandma - who is visiting for the week - to the Oroville Fish Hatchery to check out the salmon. This is the time of year when the salmon are spawning. The Hatchery opens their ladder and you can watch the salmon swim in and up. There is even an underwater viewing area where you can get an up close view of the fish as they struggle upstream. The first time I went a few years ago and looked a salmon in the eye, I knew I would never eat salmon again. I can't. Bless her heart, Grandma said the same thing yesterday.
