so many favorites

e.soule is having a sale on her incredible, magical photographs. The prints start as Polaroid photos that she scans and prints. Check it out. The sale prices are fantastic. I wish I could get them all.

snow moon

Did you see that glorious full moon last night? It is so white and bright. It's called the "Snow Moon" and it is in the sign of Virgo. Virgo energy deals with honesty, integrity, and purity. Virgo deals with reality. Interestingly, the sun is in the opposite sign of Pisces. Pisces deals with the ideal. So, maybe, this full moon period is about living out our ideals in the real world.

what we see

There is only you and your camera.
The limitations in your photography are in yourself.
For what we see is what we are.

mercury mercury

Mercury's in retrograde. It first crossed my mind earlier today when every - every - traffic signal between the grocery store in Chico and home was red for me. I thought, "it must be" when not one but two cars on the midway - speed limit 50 mph - were traveling at the lightening speed of 35. I knew it when every link in my saved posts section refused to load. I was reminded of it when blogger took 5 minutes to open. I'm going to turn off the computer and bury myself under a blanket...thanks for letting me vent...

Here's a picture of Tom - the neighbor's cat - with a look that perfectly matches my feelings right now...

BTW, Mercury is in retrograde until March 17th. If this post disappears somewhere into the blogosphere, I won't be surprised...

google

I love the way google manipulates its letters to mark different occasions and events. I was extra happy to see todays. Edward Gorey is one of my favorite illustrators. How could he not be with all the cats!

big birds

Have you seen Leila Jeffreys's photographs? I am besotted. She photographs birds - little birds - mostly wild cockatoos and Australia's native bird, the budgerigar. Her photographic portraits are printed large - almost 36x44 inches. So the little birds can't be overlooked. See more here.

felix

Felix is a fish - a glorious crimson half-moon betta. He came into our lives on January 8th and has been a joy. He is full of personality, swimming around whenever he sees us, straight on staring at us when we put our faces near the glass. He loves to hang out near the heater and his greatest joy - other than being fed - is when I do a 50% water change every week. He spends his days swimming around, staring down the cats, and blowing bubble nests. We're so happy he's part of our family.

eat it, too

I'm not planning on getting married anytime soon...but if I were, I think I'd build the whole wedding around this cake...
