men
I let another man onto the island. I don't know why I do it. I see them flailing around in the sea and throw a lifeline. This one is funny. Really, really funny. I've enjoyed his company. But, alas, he doesn't like the neighborhood. Apparently my stellar company is not enough. Hasn't quite left the island yet. Packing up and looking for transportation off. Oh, well.

Who Is That Girl?
I tend to be a purist with my photos. Add a little color correction. A little contrast boost. And bleach them out a little. Little being the operative word. Never into all the Photoshop filters. Someone asked for a photo of me. A sexy photo of me. Well...no way. I took a photo. Not a very good one. And played with some of the filters. Hit posterize and came up with this. Kinda cool.

Tree Traditions
Every year on the day after Thanksgiving, J's father's family travel to their mountain property to cut Christmas trees. Each year I have gone with them, even if we couldn't make it to the property, we made it near enough to get trees. Not this year. The snow level is so low, we could only make 3 of the 13 miles beyond the small town of Stirling City to the property. So we parked near the creek, played in the snow, and had a picnic of sandwiches made of leftover Thanksgiving turkey. Then we turned around and headed back to Stirling City where we bought trees from the fire department tree lot. Bought trees for the first time in years. A new tradition?

Thanksgiving
I am grateful for...everything. It's my thing - feeling gratitude, looking for the gift.
J's prayer before dinner (taught to her by her grandmother):
Thank you for the food we eat
Thank you for the birds that sing
Thank you God for everything
My prayer over the food:
Blessed plants and animals
Thank you for your many gifts
Please nourish our bodies and all who partake of yours
And blessings and thanks to All and Everything
Who contributed to bringing these gifts to us

Endings
A man came onto my island. I recognized an old friend and allowed him access. He was cute and sexy and fun and a bit of a bad boy - okay more than a bit bad. He had a kind heart and a beautiful soul. He also had a very troubled past and the inability to deal with his own emotions in an honest or beneficial way. He only knew how to run. How sad to not be able to trust anyone to love the real you. I opened my heart to him. I believed his words. I believed in his dreams. I gave assistance when needed. (read: money. Sadly, even on the island money is still required.) I stood by him as he made his way through the jungle. One day he left - without warning or explanation. Just was gone. And I am alone on the island once again.
I forgot how much love can hurt.

Beginnings...
"The world is round and the place that may seem like the end may also be only the beginning."
George Baker
Then wouldn't it follow, that the place that may seem like the beginning may also be the end?
